I can die a happy woman... - July 21, 2008

(Printer Friendly Version)

Well, not really, but almost.

As much as I bitch and moan about the big girl job, every now and then it has a moment that makes it all worthwhile. This morning was one of those moments.

I was invited to attend the taping of the John Mellencamp performance for the CBS Early Show this morning. It involved waking up at an ungodly hour, being downtown at an ungodly hour, and standing in the rain, but it was worth it. Not because I had special VIP seating right next to the stage and could have reached out and touched him numerous times (seriously...I think I inhaled some of his second hand smoke...dude is a cute little man, but if he doesn't die of lung cancer soon I'll be shocked). It wasn't because he sounds absolutely amazing live and puts on a great show. And it wasn't even because of the "slice of life" I got to witness in the crowd. It was because I fell in love.

Bitches, I had an up close and personal encounter with Elaine Irwin-Mellencamp, and it was all I could ever hope for and more. The clouds parted and angels started singing (Jack & Diane I think) when I locked eyes on her. She has always been my favorite of the supermodels. I've loved her since high school (we won't mention how long that has been). She is every bit as beautiful in person as she is on TV and in pictures. Her eyes sparkle. Her skin in flawless (his? not so much...seriously, dude, stop smoking). And she had the cutest dress on too. I'm in love. It's been four hours and I'm still gushing.

ELAINE IRWIN!

Still gushing...

Haven't stopped watching this video all morning (skip to 3:47)...
