Next Stop Spinsterland: Go see it! - March 10, 2008

(Printer Friendly Version)

This past Friday night my girlfriend, Spygirl, and I went to opening night of "Next Stop Spinsterland." And although I was dead set on seeing the wrong show (the theatre had like 3 different shows going on and...never mind, long story), I LOVED it! It was even more hilarious than I thought it would be. Seriously, if you are single (or not), female (or male), and live in Chicago (or anywhere in the USA - buy a plane ticket), you should make a serious attempt to see this show while it's still here.

The show is about two, day away from turning 30, single girls who get on the el to go to work and wind up in a place called Spinsterland. They're promptly arrested and charged with the horrible crime of being single. The only way they can get out of Spinsterland and back home to Chicago is by getting married before they turn 30 (that's 24 hours for those of you playing along at home).

The next 24 hours find the girls at bars, dance clubs, weddings, speed dating, visiting a matchmaker, internet dating and competing on a game show trying to win a husband (the grand prize being a charming, handsome, athletic, independently wealthy man who enjoys wine and performing oral sex for hours...like THAT'S hard to find). It was all absolutely hilarious (and scarily familiar...although, I've never done internet dating, matchmakers, speed dating, or been on a game show, but it was still familiar).

I can't stress enough how much you all need to go see this show (especially you single ladies). If you find me and my humor even remotely amusing, you'll love the humor in this show. Seriously, these two girls kick way more ass than I do.

Go. Now.
