She did everything Fred did, but in heels... - June 17, 2008
I don't really talk much about my dancing years. Mainly because it's too painful. I can't do it anymore. You know what it's like when you're so good at something, but just not good enough? And then you get injured and you have to face the fact that you'll never do it again? That's why.
But I need to right now, because one of the women I worshipped when I was dancing died today, and I'm heartbroken. I'm not sure why I'm so upset (could have something to do with not having cried enough about Tim Russert yet). She was 87 years old. It's not like this is a tragedy. But still...she died and I'm upset.
She had the best feet in the history of feet. Those of you who have never danced before won't understand what I mean by that, but if you don't have the feet, you don't dance. It's that simple. And you either have them or you don't. She also had the most amazing legs you'll ever see. She was gorgeous, and I worshipped her.
My sister had a picture of her on her bedroom door growing up because she worshipped her too. I used to stop and just stare at that picture. In awe of what she could do with those legs, and those feet. Unfortunately I was too cool to show my love by hanging her pictures on my bedroom walls. I chose instead to decorate my walls with pictures of the New Kids on the Block. What if my friends came over and saw a picture of a female dancer on my wall? What would they think? So I loved her in my mind alone.
You tell me those aren't the most amazing set of legs you've ever seen.

There will never be another like her. RIP Cyd Charisse.

You're one of the few people I know of who appreciates/loves Cyd Charisse as much as I do. I wasn't a dancer, but it still hurts.

My god, she makes that look easy. Amazing!

She was only 5'7", with legs like those you'd have thought she was taller. She was very good at dancing as a character, like the segment with Gene Kelley and her in Singing in the Rain. Sure, in dance much of the character is given to you by the choreographer, but the attitude and expressions were all her.

Sorry for your loss Trixie. I know you dancer types take stuff like this hard from personal experience. Take care of yourself. I suggest getting wasted.
